5 confidence tips

Fitness is vital to personal success. It’s an important aspect of self-care that should be apart of everyone’s individual lifestyle. Similar to how you workout to make your body stronger, you can also train your mind to believe and behave a certain way.

A definition of the word ‘Confidence’ is: “a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities.”

I know a few individuals in my life who are the definition of positive, charismatic confidence. In a world that constantly tries to make you someone that you aren’t, it can be all the more difficult to maintain a healthy self-confidence. I wish I could be more like these positive people I’ve grown up around. They seem to always have special secrets that they use to boost their self-esteem and confidence.

Confidence is being undoubtedly fine with who you are as a person and not being afraid to own that. You are genuinely content with yourself and the situations you are in. How can you become more confident? How can you build a stronger self-esteem?

1.) Remove the negativity

When you scroll through social media do you feel insecure and discontent? That’s negativity. Get rid of it. When you’re around certain individuals, do they make you feel inferior? Remove them from your life. Can you be more conscious about the books you read and movies you watch that could be putting un-wanted pressure and negative emotions into your personal life? Take it all away for a time.

2.) Accomplish an important task

A quote by Thomas Carlyle says something profound; “Nothing builds self-esteem and self-confidence like accomplishment.” This is quite frankly the way I can always feel better about myself. It’s a huge burden off your chest when to-do lists are becoming smaller and pressure is vanishing. Hard work always has the sweetest rewards and sometimes it’s as small as a confidence boost.

3.) Practice the act of self-care

If you don’t prioritize yourself, not only does everything in life seem to collapse all at once, but you definitely won’t feel your best either. Take care of yourself. An hour workout-class, a warm bubble bath at the end of the day, getting a mani/pedi done at the spa are just a few ideas.

4.) Mentally prepare

Are you going to a social event where you need to know names? Should you be up-to-date on current events and political issues for dinner conversations? You need to mentally prepare for whatever may come your way so that you feel confident regardless of what happens.

5.) Dress to impress

Your appearance says a lot about yourself. Without even saying a word people will naturally assume things. The saying, “Dress to Impress,” is totally applicable to everyday life as it is one of the best ways to feel confident about yourself and demonstrate your self-esteem to anyone else you may encounter.
